AI Bills Protecting NY Entertainers Gain Key Labor Support

The New York State AFL-CIO and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters have joined efforts to pass New York legislation that would protect workers in the entertainment industry from potential job losses resulting from the adoption of artificial intelligence.

Unions are lobbying on a measure that would require businesses to disclose when they use AI in advertisements rather than actors (S.B. 6859), and another (S.B. 7676) that would mandate that content creators get informed consent from workers before using their likenesses or voices.
