Autonomous vehicle companies could continue testing their technology in New York under budget resolutions approved Thursday by the state Senate and Assembly that also press Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) on issues like raising income taxes.
Hochul proposed a $233 billion spending plan in January that included a two-year extension of a self-driving pilot program slated to expire in two weeks. The Assembly backed that proposal while the Senate wants an extension until April 1, 2029.
