Bill Restricting Social Media Feeds for Minors Out of NY Budget

Legislation to restrict social media feeds for minors who use platforms such as TikTok Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc.'s Instagram will be left out of the New York state budget, a key lawmaker said Tuesday.

Key New York legislators had been lukewarm to including Gov. Kathy Hochul’s proposal (S7684) that would require parental permission for platforms to use algorithms to curate social media content for children.
