Fast-food restaurants in airports, stadiums, and related venues will be exempt from California’s new $20 minimum wage for the industry under legislation cleared by the state Assembly on Monday.
The chamber voted 55-5 for the measure (A.B. 610), which comes just days before the new wage law takes effect in fast-food chain restaurants across the state on April 1. The state Senate approved the bill by a vote of 31-4 last month. The bill heads next to Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who is likely to sign it.
