California Drops TikTok Ban Measure After Federal Law Enacted

A California lawmaker has dropped his proposed ban of social media app TikTok on state government devices as a result of a federal law that forces its parent company to sell its app or be shut down in the US.

State Sen. Bill Dodd (D) on Thursday took his measure (SB 74) that would prohibit the app on state devices off the list of legislation withheld from floor consideration, but his spokesperson said that the text of the bill will be changed to tackle other state needs.
