The State Bar of California’s board of trustees voted Thursday to unanimously recommend the National Conference of Bar Examiners’ NextGen Uniform Bar Exam for administration in July 2028 following the disastrous rollout, and rollback, of the state’s attempt to create its own exam.
The 11 trustees present at the meeting of the California State Bar approved the recommendation of the Committee of Bar Examiners during its board meeting—though many said they were reluctant to do so.
