Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Friday vetoed legislation that would have limited minors’ access to social media—but said he will reconsider a “different, superior bill” before the legislature adjourns.
The measure would have imposed the strictest limits yet by states seeking to regulate teens online by kicking kids under 16 off platforms with addictive design features. Lawmakers now have until March 8 to revise their approach and secure the governor’s approval.
