FCC School Bus Wi-Fi Subsidy Challenge Voluntarily Dismissed

A Texas couple voluntarily dismissed their legal challenge to the Federal Communications Commission’s former school bus Wi-Fi subsidy program, ending the case Friday without a court ruling

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said the inclusion of Wi-Fi on buses, which was extended in 2023 under President Joe Biden, was an unlawful expansion of the commission’s E-Rate program meant to serve only classrooms and libraries. The dismissal came three days after the FCC voted 2-1 to end the Covid-19 era expansion of the commission’s E-Rate program that schools and libraries.
