Meta Platforms Inc. is under pressure from Democratic lawmakers in the House over state law enforcement access to private user data that could reveal attempts to seek an abortion.
House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) and other Democrats on the panel asked the Facebook owner for a briefing on the social platform’s treatment of personal data and its policies for sharing information with law enforcement in the wake of the US Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization to overturn the federal right to terminate a pregnancy.
