Minnesota Budget Grants Property Tax Break to 600,000 Homeowners

Minnesota homeowners will share $125 million in property tax relief under a framework budget agreement announced late Wednesday by Gov. Tim Walz (D) and legislative leaders.

The one-page agreement, signed by Walz and caucus leaders in the House and Senate, lays out spending targets for the state for fiscal year 2027 ahead of May 18, the required adjournment date under Minnesota’s constitution. Lawmakers will now scramble to hammer out revenue strategies and agency spending totals that conform to the framework agreement.
