Minnesota Sues USDA Over Threats to Pull State Food Aid Benefits

Minnesota is suing the Trump administration, alleging it has threatened to cut off federal funding for food assistance benefits if the state doesn’t comply with prescribed recertification procedures.

Minnesota must “recertify” the eligibility of over 100,000 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or “SNAP,” households by Jan. 15, including conducting in-person interviews with each househould as part of the re-certification process, according to the state’s suit filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota.
