Undocumented immigrants who live Nebraska are no longer eligible for in-state tuition at public colleges, thanks to a court-approved consent decree signed by both state and federal officials.
Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers (R) agreed with the US Justice Department that federal immigration law preempts a 2006 state law provision extending post-secondary education benefits to all state residents regardless of citizenship, the US District Court for the District of Nebraska said Wednesday.
