CHATBOTS CAPABLE OF RELATIONSHIPS WITH USERS will face new requirements in California, such as notifications that the software isn’t a human, under legislation signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Monday. The measure (SB 243), which would place some of the nation’s first rules on chatbots, requires operators to maintain and publish a protocol for preventing suicidal content from being presented to the user.
