SAFETY PROTOCOL DISCLOSURE will be the new norm in California for developers of advanced artificial intelligence models, under a first-in-the-nation law signed Monday by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D). AI workers and contractors will also be granted whistleblower protections under the measure, which requires AI companies to report safety incidents to the state Office of Emergency Services.
