New York lawmakers are considering revising a measure (S.B. 7694) that would place restrictions over minors’ use of social media to remove provisions strongly opposed by technology industry groups.
A new draft of legislation prepared by the Assembly would remove language to allow parents to sue social media companies if they didn’t get their permission to use algorithms to curate social media feeds for their children. The draft, obtained by Bloomberg Government, also would take out a provision that would prohibit social media companies from sending notifications from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. unless they have parental consent. ...
