Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Sues Member Over Event Trademark Use

The first international fraternity founded on the campus of a historically black college claims a current member is violating trademark laws by promoting “falsely branded” unauthorized events at a large upcoming annual meeting.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. alleges that Omega Clave Events and its manager, Barry Israel, and others are violating federal and state trademark and unfair competition laws by using counterfeit event branding, including Omega’s marks, to sell tickets and promote lodging and entertainment during the fraternity’s 85th Grand Conclave, the fraternity claims in its complaint filed Monday at US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. ...
