Social Media Restrictions for Teens Signed Into Law in Tennessee

Teens in Tennessee will have to secure parental permission to use social media under a law signed Thursday by Gov. Bill Lee (R).

The law (H.B. 1891) requires social media sites to check the ages of their users and obtain parental consent for minors under 18. Platforms must also provide supervisory tools for parents, such as allowing them to set time restrictions on use.
