Lawmakers in some states are advancing President Donald Trump’s workplace-related agenda through measures aimed at preempting local government authority, Chris Marr reports.
- Florida legislators won statehouse approval of a bill that would restrict local governments’ diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. Iowa just enacted a law that targets anti-bias protections for transgender and non-binary workers by banning cities and counties from enforcing civil rights laws that deal with protected traits not covered by state law. And Tennessee recently barred counties and municipalities from regulating private-sector employment at all.
