Taylor Swift Ticket Uproar Leads To State Laws Curbing Bots (1)

Music lovers and sports fans have new protections against ticket price gouging in Maryland and Minnesota after governors in those states signed bills into law this week.

The two states have cracked down on ticket resales following a 2023 uproar over sky-high concert tickets for acts such as Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen.

Ticket sellers must disclose total prices to prospective buyers including taxes and fees under the new laws aimed at hampering the use of software to purchase tickets before humans. At least 14 states covering half the US population now have such laws in place.
