States Secure Counter-Drone Funding
The 11 states co-hosting the men’s FIFA 2026 World Cup matches in the US secured more than $847 million ahead of the tournament next month, the bulk of which is for security measures, including counter-drone technology installation, Maika Ito reports.
FEMA said it would award $250 million to states to install counter-drone technology at World Cup and America 250 venues and $625 million to meet enhanced World Cup security requirements.
JIATF 401, the Defense Department’s task force leading counter-drone readiness efforts, also committed $100 million for enhanced counter-drone capabilities at the games.
