Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) will sign legislation that will give his state the most far-reaching right-to-repair law in the nation.
“Governor Polis appreciates the work of the sponsors on this legislation and looks forward to signing the bill,” Polis spokesperson Shelby Wieman said in a Monday statement.
Manufacturers must provide spare parts and know-how for consumers, businesses, and government agencies to allow consumers or third parties to repair products under the measure (HB 1121). The bill passed the state House of Representatives by a 53-9 vote and the Senate by a 21-13 margin.
