A lawyer and past GOP state Michigan Attorney General candidate who pushed Donald Trump’s election conspiracies in the swing state was criminally charged Tuesday for meddling with voting equipment.
Matthew DePerno, who lost to incumbent Dana Nessel (D) in the 2022 attorney general race, was indicted on four counts in connection with an effort to “test” voting machines to prove faulty technology or software led to Trump’s loss to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Biden beat Trump by more than 100,000 votes in Michigan.
