States Brace for $900B in Medicaid Cuts
States are weighing tax increases, spending cuts and eligibility rollbacks as they prepare for $900 billion in federal Medicaid cuts over the coming decade, Nic Querolo reports.
The cuts to Medicaid, the largest overall source of federal funding for almost all states, were part of the signature tax and spending law President Donald Trump enacted last year. S&P Global Ratings analysts wrote in a May report that they expect most states to respond by controlling expenditures.
