Amazon.com Inc.’s 16,000 job cuts announced this week include about 1,400 in Seattle and approximately 700 in the neighboring suburb of Bellevue, according to documents filed with state and local authorities.
Those losses follow an October round of layoffs that impacted more than 2,000 Amazon employees in the region. Other tech companies have also shed jobs this year in the Seattle area: Expedia Inc. cut 162 jobs on Wednesday and Meta Platforms Inc. cut 331 jobs last week.
