California Attorney General Rob Bonta today, alongside a coalition of eight attorneys general, filed a lawsuit to block the acquisition of Tegna by Nexstar Media Group, according to a statement.
- Lawsuit alleges that the merger violates Section 7 of the Clayton Act, which holds that mergers that substantially lessen competition or tend to create a monopoly are illegal
- Bonta joins the attorneys general of New York, Colorado, Illinois, Oregon, North Carolina, Connecticut, and Virginia in the lawsuit
- Lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of California
