Dish Fails to Establish US Ties to UK Streamer’s Alleged Piracy

Satellite-TV provider Dish Network LLC failed to show that a UK-based streaming service’s alleged piracy had sufficient links to the US to sustain its copyright suit, a California federal court said.

Innetra PC, based in Wales and run by a Seychelles citizen and resident, didn’t direct any of its activities toward the US, the US District Court for the Northern District of California ruled. Jurisdictional discovery revealed only two brief subscribers in the US and no other meaningful domestic ties, Judge Noel Wise said in an opinion issued Thursday.
