Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has spent a year running for the US Senate saying how much he loves Donald Trump. The president just won’t say it back when it matters most.

After Paxton forced a runoff against Senator John Cornyn in the Republican primary earlier this week, Trump said he would endorse one candidate soon and ask the other to drop out. As speculation swirled that Trump would pick the sitting senator, Paxton vowed he would stay in the race no matter what.
