Central Dallas Hit With Double Whammy as NHL, NBA Teams Leave

For the second time in two days, a professional sports franchise in Dallas has announced plans to leave the city’s urban core.

The National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars signed a letter of intent to develop a stadium and entertainment district in Plano, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of downtown Dallas. Plano, which would still need to approve the project, is the largest city in Collin County, one of the fastest-growing counties in the US.
