A former federal prosecutor and Kirkland & Ellis partner who dropped a bid to become a federal judge will instead take on a lucrative role as Walmart’s top lawyer.

Erin Nealy Cox, who served as US attorney for the Northern District of Texas during the first Trump administration, had the backing of both Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz to fill an open federal judgeship in Dallas.
