Switzerland Updates Global Minimum Tax Reporting Procedure

Switzerland’s government approved Wednesday a regulatory amendment establishing a centralized filing procedure for global minimum tax information returns and their sharing with cantonal and international authorities.

The return known as the GloBE Information Return, or GIR, provides tax authorities with information on the effective tax burden of corporate groups subject to global minimum tax rules.

The minimum tax seeks to levy large corporate groups at a minimum 15% rate wherever they operate and is one half of a tax deal negotiated at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
