A former Chesapeake Energy Corp. bondholder sued an ex-judge and a former Jackson Walker LLP partner for failing to disclose their romance, alleging “mass corruption” aided by major law firms in the Houston bankruptcy court.
Former Chief Bankruptcy Judge David R. Jones, Jackson Walker, attorney Elizabeth Freeman, and law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP leveraged the secret relationship to control the outcomes of large corporate bankruptcies, reward institutional creditors, and secure lucrative professional fees, Florida investment firm EJS Investment Holdings LLC said in a Thursday lawsuit in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
