Debt Relief Company Trims Privacy Lawsuit Over Customer Data

Customers suing Reach Financial LLC can continue pursuing their claims under the California privacy law and Illinois negligence law after a district court dismissed many of their other state and federal allegations.

The customers sufficiently pleaded a duty of care for claims under the California Invasion of Privacy Act and Illinois law to survive a motion to dismiss, Judge Katherine Polk Failla said Monday. The US District Court for the Southern District of New York partially denied dismissal on the two claims while partially granting dismissal for a variety of others.
