The Justice Department sent grand jury subpoenas to multiple top Minnesota officials in a widening investigation over whether they conspired to impede federal immigration enforcement efforts, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The demands went to officials including Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, said the person, who asked not to be identified discussing a sensitive law enforcement matter.
