Gerrymandering Foes Eye Ballot Reforms After SCOTUS Punt

Voters seeking to take partisanship out of redistricting are turning their eyes to state ballot reform measures, after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to decide whether partisanship in redistricting can go too far.

The high court sidestepped the issue June 18 in a pair of cases challenging partisan gerrymandering in Wisconsin and Maryland. The court sent both cases back to the lower courts on procedural grounds.
