A Louisiana law imposing mandatory disclosures by organizations that help veterans file benefits claims and capping their compensation is unconstitutional, a federal court ruled.
The act violates the US Constitution’s supremacy clause because it impedes “the realization of Congress’s goal of ensuring that veterans have access to qualified representatives to assist them in pursuing claims for VA benefits,” Judge Brian A. Jackson of the US District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana said in a Feb. 6 order.
