The Defense Department may require reporters to be escorted by staff in the Pentagon building despite a federal judge’s finding that the press restrictions violate a court order, a federal appeals court ruled.

A divided three-judge panel for the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit on Monday granted the Trump administration’s emergency request to pause part of a lower court order against the Pentagon’s renewed media policy, following a challenge by The New York Times.
