Senate Confirms US Attorneys With Limited Prosecution Experience

The Senate confirmed more than a dozen of President Donald Trump’s US attorney nominees, including the North Carolina prosecutor who brought federal charges against former FBI Director James Comey.

Most of the 13 US attorneys confirmed in the 46-43 party line vote on Monday in the Republican-controlled chamber to serve four-year terms are career prosecutors who previously served at the Justice Department, US attorneys’ offices, and for state or local prosecutors. However, at least four are picks who have indicated loyalty to Trump’s prosecutorial agenda and who have little to no prior criminal litigation experience.
