Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp.’s former president and ex-chief legal officer have been indicted by the U.S. on charges they engaged in a multi-million-dollar bribery scheme in India.
Federal prosecutors in New Jersey say Gordon Coburn of Beaver Creek, Colo., and Steven Schwartz of Greenwich, Conn., authorized an unlawful payment of about $2 million to one or more government officials in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu to get a permit necessary to open a new office campus in that state’s largest city of Chennai.
