A Los Angeles man used at least $10 million in state funds meant to combat homelessness to pay for a luxury home, his kids’ private school tuitions, and expensive vacations, a federal criminal complaint alleges.
Alexander Soofer, the executive director of housing nonprofit Abundant Blessings, siphoned the funds out of $23 million he received to support homeless services between 2018 and 2025, federal prosecutors announced in a Friday news conference.
