Agriculture Research Targeted in Funding Stopgap: Farm Brief

Good afternoon, and welcome back to this week’s Farm Brief.

All eyes are on a six-month spending bill the Senate has until Friday to pass—or send the government into shutdown mode.

The continuing resolution House lawmakers passed earlier this week includes millions of dollars in cuts to the Agriculture Department’s research, inspection, and natural resources arms. It would also match a White House request to boost nutrition funding for women and infants by $567 million through the end of fiscal 2025.
