Billions of dollars for air traffic control upgrades in recent legislation represent just the start of action needed by Congress to overhaul the technology governing US airspace, senior Republicans said Tuesday.
“It is a sizable down payment, but one that will not address all of our air traffic system problems,” Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.), chair of the House Appropriations Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Subcommittee, told the Air Traffic Control Modernization Summit in Washington.
