Lawmakers in Washington are still pushing to enact a crypto regulatory structure this year, even as sharp disagreements between the crypto industry and banks stall negotiations.

Congress has eyed a market structure bill as the next major step in legislating crypto, building on a law last year that established regulations on stablecoins (Public Law 119-27; BGOV Bill Analysis). Now, they’ve turned their attention to regulating some of the biggest assets, such as Bitcoin and Ether, as their adoption continues to grow.
