Bill to Eliminate EPA Review of Federal Projects Passes in House

A measure that would eliminate a required Environmental Protection Agency review for new federal construction projects passed the House Thursday in a 222-205 vote.

The bill (H.R. 6398), sponsored by Rep. John Joyce (R-Pa.), intends to speed up environmental reviews of new federal projects. It’s one of a suite of proposals in the House to reform environmental permitting. The Senate is also expected to pitch a permit reform package in the next few months.
