Dozens of Trump Picks Near Confirmation as Senate Changes Rules

Senate Republicans surpassed the last major procedural hurdle on their way to confirming 48 of President Donald Trump’s nominees at once, setting new precedent in the chamber.

The Senate completed a series of votes on Wednesday to go nuclear again and lower the threshold on the group of nominees from 60 votes to a simple majority, allowing them to limit debate on the dozens of picks. The list of 48 nominees, which includes ambassadors and agency heads, are now set for a confirmation vote before the end of the week.
