Energy Executive Picked for Senate to Focus on Permitting Reform

Markwayne Mullin‘s Senate seat will be taken over by an executive focused on overhauling permitting rules for energy and infrastructure.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt announced Alan Armstrong of the Williams Companies as his pick to fill the seat for the rest of the year, a day after Mullin was confirmed to serve as homeland security secretary. Stitt said he picked Armstrong specifically to work across party lines on long-sought permitting reform legislation.
