House Panel Approves HHS Funding Bill, Rejecting Trump’s Cuts

The House Appropriations Committee approved a bill to fund the Department of Health and Human Services at $111 billion on a vote of 34 to 28.

The spending level would be a $4 billion cut from the health agency’s current operating budget, according to House Appropriations Republicans. But it’s a less severe cut than what President Donald Trump proposed; he suggested cutting HHS’ budget by $15.8 billion.
