Meta, Google to Talk Deepfake Election Threats in Senate Forum

Officials from Meta Platforms Inc., Alphabet Inc.'s Google, Microsoft Corp., and Adobe Inc. will head to Capitol Hill this week to examine artificial intelligence’s growing influence on American elections and democracy.

The Senate forum on Wednesday morning is part of a series of closed-door AI discussions that Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has been leading with Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), and Todd Young (R-Ind.), since September. The purpose of the forums, the senators say, is to help members get up to speed on the technology to eventually regulate it.
