Senate Confirms Trump’s Nominee to Replace Fired NTSB Democrat

The Senate voted on partisan lines Wednesday to approve President Donald Trump‘s pick to replace a Democrat he fired from the National Transportation Safety Board last year.

John DeLeeuw, a pilot and executive at American Airlines Group. Inc., will replace Democrat Alvin Brown for the remainder of the five-year term that ends Dec. 31, 2026. Litigation over the termination is ongoing.

The final vote Wednesday was 50-45 in favor of confirming DeLeeuw.

Clearing the nomination, is the latest instance of congressional Republicans effectively backing Trump’s efforts to oust Democrats from traditionally bipartisan independent agencies by considering replacements. The ...
