House Passes Full-Year Stopgap, Putting Spotlight on Senate

House Republicans have successfully foisted the pressure of a shutdown onto Senate Democrats, who must decide to back the GOP’s full-year stopgap or force a shutdown.

House members passed a continuing resolution yesterday 217-213, in a nearly party-line vote. The measure’s passage puts the onus on senators to either scrounge up 60 votes to clear the bill or force a shutdown. The deadline is Friday night. Read More
