Texas AI Regulatory Bill Splits Political Right Ahead of Passage

The Texas Legislature is nearing passage of legislation that would restrict artificial intelligence while dividing the political right over how extensive the sector should be regulated.

AI developers and users couldn’t use the emerging technology to discriminate intentionally against people, incite them to commit crimes, or encourage self-harm under the measure (H.B. 149) that could clear the Legislature by the end of the week. The GOP-controlled legislature will adjourn on June 2.
